Troubleshooting API Error: "Search Type is Missing"

Why is my API call returning "Search Type is Missing"?

First, please make sure that you have the "&TYPE=" value properly defined in your API query string. If you do, the next thing to check is to make sure you don't have a question mark (?), equal sign (=), ampersand (&) or pound sign (#) in your password. These characters have special meaning in URLs and cannot be used in passwords for APIs.
