What is OFAC search?

OFAC stands for Office of Foreign Asset Control. This is the financial enforcement agency of the US Treasury that enforces economic compliance and trade sanctions based on U.S. foreign policy and national security goals against targeted foreign countries and regimes, terrorists, international narcotics traffickers, and those engaged in activities related to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

OFAC search (also available in API) enables you to screen individuals, entities, and countries against comprehensive lists maintained by the OFAC. By conducting this search, companies can identify potential matches with sanctioned parties and take necessary measures to comply with the sanctions programs.

If the person you're searching for is on the list, this will let you know their offenses, if there are arrest warrants against them, and the people or organizations they are linked to.
