Your Guide to Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Compliance
Vlog: Personally Identifiable Information (PII): Your Guide to PII Compliance
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is any data that can be used to identify, contact, or locate an individual. In most cases, the information must be capable of distinguishing one individual from another to be considered PII.
There are two types of PII:
1. Linked Information - any piece of data that can be used to identify a person, with very little or without any additional information.
2. Linkable Information - personal information that must be combined with other pieces of personal data to identify a specific individual.
PII compliance is essential as it helps protect individuals' privacy, reduces the risk of identity theft, and ensures legal and regulatory adherence.
